Does CBD Have a Risk of Reducing Inflammation?
CBD is an anti-inflammatory
The anti-inflammatory properties of CBD are well documented. The reduction of inflammations is a case of potential use recognized for various cannabinoids.
Naturally, reducing inflammation helps fight chronic inflammation (CI). Considered the forerunner of heart disease, diabetes and many forms of cancer, prevention of heart failure is linked to a happier and longer life.
If we focus exclusively on the anti-inflammatory capabilities of CBD, what does the research say? The Journal of Experimental Medicine sought to evaluate the effectiveness of CBD in suppressing inflammatory and neuropathic pain.
To do this, they monitored the reaction between CBD and glycine receptors. The receptors were linked to the neurons of the dorsal horn of the rats. It is a set of sensory neurons that transmit information – in this case, telling our brain that we are in pain. The researchers concluded that “the administration of cannabidiol (CBD), a major non-psychoactive component of cannabis, and its modified derivatives significantly suppresses chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain.”
Another study, published this time on PLOS one, also examined the effectiveness of CBD in reducing inflammation. The study focused on “biopsies of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC)” and “intestinal segments of mice with intestinal inflammation caused by LPS.” HCR is a chronic, long-term condition that causes inflammation of the human colon and rectum. Again, the CBD has demonstrated its effectiveness. Preliminary results have shown that CBD “counteracts the inflammatory environment induced by LPS in mice and human colonic cultures from patients with UC.”
If CBD turns out to be a potent anti-inflammatory, the cannabinoid could become incredibly beneficial. The question is, however, what will happen if we reduce the effectiveness of our inflammatory response too much? Remember, we must try to maintain a balance.
CBD can reduce inflammations too much
Fortunately, this is something scientists at the research center of the University Institute of Cardiology and Pulmonology of Quebec also wanted to understand.
An appropriate inflammatory response is essential for our immune system to be effective in the fight against infections.
By analyzing the data collected by the scientific community, the regulation of pulmonary immunity and inflammation caused by cannabinoids was examined.
The initial interpretation showed that by down-regulating the functions of immune cells, cannabinoids “may decrease host defenses.” This would increase the risk of getting an infection and reduce the effectiveness of our immune system. They went on to acknowledge that the relationship between too much, and not enough support with inflammations is complicated. More research is needed to transfer data from animal models to humans.
Too much of a good thing can be bad
Conflicting research always refers to reading. However, the inflammatory “balancing act” is no different from many other aspects of a healthy lifestyle. If you take a look in your medicine cabinet, you will find that it is filled with a wide range of health supplements. Iron, vitamin D, vitamin C; several essential supplements are needed to give a boost to our body. This is a form of support that may be necessary because of lifestyle limitations or diet. As in the case of CBD, ingestion of too much vitamin may have adverse effects.
We should not fear the consequences of taking too much of something that is good for us. In most cases, the tolerable level is much higher when the effect is beneficial rather than harmful. In fact, what is “good” for us can be “bad” and vice versa. The problem is that if we separate the products in this way, it becomes impossible to know if a supplement can be safely consumed. Instead, we should always return to the theme of balance. The opposition between good and evil is too basic, especially when each of us is different regarding its genetic makeup.

Everyone suffers from pain from time to time. It can be rather unpleasant and even prevent you from doing the things that you love. With the side effects and risks that come with other pain relief options, it is only natural to consider the other options available to you. Fortunately, CBD creams are all natural and can go to work to reduce or even eliminate the pain that you are experiencing.
The main thing that you will want to know about CBD cream for pain and oil is that it absolutely will not result in you getting high. This is a major misconception that keeps many people from using it. Fortunately, there is absolutely no chance that it can get you high. The part of the cannabis plant that has those effects is known as THC and is found in such low amounts in the oil and cream that it will not lead to getting high. However, if you live in a state in which any amount of possession of THC can lead to criminal charges you should be aware that it is possible for these products to test positive for THC.
It is also important to understand the main difference between using an oil versus a cream. The oil is intended to be taken orally. This gives the user the ability to address generalized pain or soreness through the body; however, the effects are mild. If you are experiencing extreme pain in a muscle or joint the cream has the ability to address that pain directly and typically will result in a greater level of relief. The only risk that a user of these creams may need to consider is the possibility of a skin reaction. While most creams are made with all natural ingredients, there is always the chance that someone with sensitive skin will not take well to something inside of the cream.
The fact that there are basically no risks of using this pain relief option is one of the biggest factors in consumers choosing this over other options. Even over the counter medications come with some serious health risks, especially when they are used for an extended period of time. For example, ibuprofen has the risk of causing serious damage to the stomach lining. It is typically safe for people to take on occasion, but if you suffer from a chronic pain condition you are going to be at increased risk of developing stomach issues. Acetaminophen is another over the counter pain reliever that can help mild to moderate pain. Unfortunately, if it is used for an extended period of time it could lead to liver damage and even death in some. When it comes to CBD oils and creams you can have the peace of mind knowing that you are not causing any harm to your body.
Finally, the cream is a great option for those that do have to take prescription medications for their health. Taking the oil is known to prevent the liver from processing a number of medications properly. However, the cream only enters the body where it is applied so it will not have this effect. Be sure to talk to your doctor about your medications and any possible issues that could arise when taking them with oil.
It really is amazing that there is now an option for those that prefer to stay away from pharmaceuticals and other medications. There is no reason to live in pain when there is something available to you that can give you the relief that you deserve. Give it a try the next time you are in pain. It will leave you wondering why you hadn’t done so sooner.
The cannabinoids can be found in plants which are called phytocannabinoids, while endocannabinoids are the type of cannabinoids produced by animals and humans. Artificial cannabinoids are called synthetic cannabinoids. Think of the word “cannabinoid” as the general term for a chemical compound that can be broken down into small categories based on its origin.
Phytocannabinoids are of particular interest to us because they are found in a wide range of plants, many of which are known. The following list is just a brief overview of some of the plants that contain cannabinoids: Asteraceae, Xerochrysum, liverworts, and tea tree (not to be confused with the tea tree).
The attributes common to all these plants testify not only to their potential in traditional medicine but also to their different applications in the modern era. This raises the question: if we find cannabinoids in cannabis and other common plants, why are we treating marijuana so differently?
You may be surprised to learn that Asteraceae is the first plant on our list to contain phytocannabinoids. Anyways, it is very likely that you have one growing in a pot in your house.
They are grown both indoors and outdoors for ornamental purposes because of their bright pink petals. Common in homes and pretty to look at,
Asteraceae can be divided into two main species: Echinacea Angustifolia (narrow-leafed Asteraceae) and Echinacea purpura (purple Asteraceae). Both are widely available, although they are native to the Americas.
Asteraceae has more than aesthetic uses. Because of its phytocannabinoids, it has been used traditionally to reduce wound inflammation, burns and insect bites.
The roots can also be chewed to relieve a toothache or throat infections. However, side effects have been noted. Digestive problems, rashes, and asthma attacks are possible following the use of echinacea.
Brazilians call Acmella jambú, although in the rest of the world, the “toothache plant” is the most common name. The main body of the flower is composed of hundreds of small clustered flowers. The toothache plant has gained notoriety for the intriguing effect it has when chewing its flowers. Some consumers would experience extreme numbness. Herbalists were quick to realize that Acmella was the perfect solution for treating toothache in just 10-15 minutes. In the end, many of us would prefer to chew a flower rather than have a needle in the gum.
Despite the annoying production of saliva it causes, Acmella seems to have few side effects. Of course, we would not encourage anyone to eat this raw plant, despite the hilarity that would ensue. The feeling can be both uncomfortable and uncomfortable. The leaf juice, while producing a similar analgesic effect, is used as an extract in several traditional Brazilian cooking recipes.
